Taiwan, home to Asia’s biggest semiconductor industry, is once again bracing itself for water shortages less than two years after overcoming its worst drought in a century. Take Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, the world’s biggest contract chipmaker, for example. Its chip facilities in the Southern Taiwan Science Park alone consume 99,000 tonnes of water per day, according to the company’s latest figures.
Intel delivered a positive update on its data center chips, and semiconductor stocks surged broadly on the back of Micron's earnings, which called a bottom in chip sales.
TSMC (TSM) closed the most recent trading day at $90.81, moving +0.17% from the previous trading session.
