China extends military drills around Taiwan

STORY: The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army said on Tuesday (August 9), the drill was focused on blockades and resupply logistics, "under a complex electromagnetic environment to refine joint containment and control capabilities", according to China's state-run media CCTV.

CCTV footage from Tuesday (August 9) showed several fighter jets taking off into the skies. A new-type of refuelling aircraft conducted in-flight refuelling for two fighter jets during the drill.

It was not immediately clear how long the latest drill will last and where they will occur.
