Lava spews from Hawaii's Mauna Loa volcano

STORY: The volcano first began erupting on November 27, at about 11:30 p.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Rising to a height of more than 4 km (13,100 ft) above sea level, Mauna Loa is the largest active volcano on earth and is located on the south-central part of the island of Hawaii. The volcano previously erupted in March and April of 1984.
