Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson exited Thursday night’s start against the San Francisco Giants after getting hit on his pitching arm by a line drive in the second inning. The ball left Mike Yastrzemski's bat at 87 mph. Nelson recovered to field the ball and throw out Yastrzemski out at first base, ending the inning. The 26-year-old Nelson threw 27 pitches, allowing two hits and no runs.

Israeli missiles have hit a site in Iran, ABC News reported late on Thursday, citing a U.S. official, while Iranian state media reported an explosion in the center of the country, days after Iran launched a retaliatory drone strike on Israel. Iran suspended flights over the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran, state media reported.

Eight companies including Smith & Wesson Brands and Sturm, Ruger & Co in a petition argued that a lower court wrongly concluded the case qualified for an exception to a U.S. law that grants the firearms industry broad protection from lawsuits over the misuse of their products.
