Walmart set to report earnings ahead of Tuesday's opening

Walmart is among several of the major retailers expected to report earnings this week.

Video transcript

DAVE BRIGGS: Seana, my stock to watch for Tuesday is Walmart. America's top retailer reporting second quarter earnings tomorrow after cutting its full year outlook in late July, saying inflation was, quote, "requiring more markdowns to move through the inventory, particularly apparel."

Walmart missed first quarter earnings per share expectations for the first time in five quarters. And expectations are for Q2 EPS to come in at $1.62. Of particular interest on Tuesday is how the company's grocery business was impacted by inflation. Shares of WMT largely flat today. As you can see, up about 0.3%.
