Flying Start Business Plan winners announced

Small Business Minister Craig Foss today announced STQRY is the supreme winner of the 2014 Business.govt.nz ANZ Flying Start Business Plan Competition.

STQRY uses location-aware technology that automatically delivers contextually-relevant information to users, without them having to click, swipe or search for anything.

"Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in New Zealand’s economy and society, and this competition acknowledges some of the best and most innovative in the country," Mr Foss says.

Businesses or start-ups were invited to submit business plans outlining an original idea for growth and sustainable revenue.

"So many of the 400-plus entries - when partnered with a robust business plan - have what it takes to succeed in New Zealand and abroad," Mr Foss says.

"The Government is focused on creating an environment where SMEs can flourish. Our Better for Business Programme is reducing the time and effort it takes to deal with Government departments.

"The Business Growth Agenda is focused on helping businesses access the six key ingredients they need to grow and succeed - capital markets, export markets, innovation, skilled and safe workplaces, natural resources and infrastructure."

As the supreme winner, STQRY receives a $45,000 prize package, including $30,000 growth funding from ANZ and access to top business training and advice.

Second and third place winners, Creative Hype and Kiwa Digital, each receive $5000 from ANZ, and 10 regional winners receive $1000 from Ernst & Young, OfficeMax and Xero.
