General Mills buys natural snack food maker Food Should Taste Good
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- General Mills Inc. announced Wednesday that it is buying the natural snack foods company Food Should Taste Good for an undisclosed amount.
Food Should Taste Good is based in Needham Heights, Mass. It makes natural tortilla chips, sweet potato chips and other snacks that are sold at retailers across North America.
General Mills, like many food makers, has put a heavier emphasis on healthier food as consumer demand for those products grows. General Mills will add the acquisition to its natural and organic products business segment, which includes brands like Cascadian Farm, Muir Glen, and LÄRABAR.
Pete Lescoe, who founded Food Should Taste Good in 2006, will stay with the business as creative director.
General Mills, based in Minneapolis, is one of the nation's largest food makers with products such as Cheerios cereal, Häagen-Dazs ice cream and Yoplait yogurt.
Shares rose 22 cents to close at $38.31.
