Yes-Hope headphones lock on to Magnetic Jacks

Yes-Hope, a major airline headphone manufacturer has announced that they will join a growing list of headphone manufacturers providing a magnetic plug option compatible with Phitek’s Magnetic Jack Unit’s (MJU).

Under an accreditation agreement announced today with Phitek, Yes-Hope will offer their range of passenger headphones factory-fitted with MJ-PlugTM making them compatible with Phitek’s MJUTM magnetic jack audio unit which is sold in different embodiments by several IFE vendors. The MJU replaces the standard mechanical insertion RJU configuration and is available in different jack configurations, connected to a number of IFE systems.

Yes-Hope’s version of the MJ-PlugTM will be available to airlines as an option across their full range of headphones and they have exhibited their MJ-PlugTM fitted headphones on both the Yes-Hope and Phitek booths at the recent Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany during April 2014.

MJUTM audio jack units have been developed by Phitek Systems as the definitive solution to seat RJUs rendered inoperable by headphone pin breakage. Mechanical pin breakage continues to be the leading cause of IFE system failure at the aircraft seat creating passenger frustration and costly technical call-outs.

When Phitek’s MJUTM audio jack units are used in combination with passenger headphones equipped with MJ-PlugTM then operational seat failures are eliminated. Potentially damaging forces exerted by passenger motion now merely act to separate the magnetic combination, releasing headphones and avoiding pin breakage inside the jacks.

Phitek recognised that low unit cost and wide availability of the MJ-PlugTM is the key to the success of the MJUTM . For this reason the company has made the MJ-PlugTM an open design, available to all headphone manufacturers and suppliers. "Yes-Hope is a major player in the airline industry and their version of the MJ-Plug works flawlessly with all the Magnetic Jack Units we are currently supply to Major IFE companies" says Roy Moody (CEO) of Phitek.

"Thanks for Phitek’s latest MJ-plug concept, now we’re able to help our airline customers to solve the headache of headphone pin breakage." says John Yin (Founder & Managing Director) of Yes-Hope.
