After completing Naked and Afraid's 21-day challenge, the survivalists are back to encounter electrical storms, parasites and stalking jaguars as they venture across six Colombian terrains
Naked and Afraid XL is almost back with more to devour.
PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the upcoming Discovery Channel series, which promises to be bigger, scarier and nakeder than ever before. The trailer features a returning cast of adventurers who vow to spend 40 days nude in the wilderness. As the clip says it best, there’s bound to be more than a few “holy s---” moments.
Fans know the drill — they’ll survive with no clothes on their backs, and be responsible for finding food, shelter and sanity during their days in the Colombian Badlands. This time, though, the survivalists have already proven themselves on Naked and Afraid, which usually promotes 21-day challenges.

Terra, Lynsey and Nathan on Naked and Afraid XL.Double the time means double the stress as the survivalists are faced with swarms of monkeys, swimming snakes, tics, blood-sucking mosquitos, jaguars and parasites — all of which could compromise their health and success on the treacherous journey. Not to mention, the weather proves to be a problem this season. Electrical storms, nightly rain and temperatures over 100 degrees will all factor into the chaos.
“I hate this place,” one survivalist says in a voiceover as buggy and sweaty glimpses at a jungle environment flash on the screen. “We need to get out of here.
The survivalists will visit six different terrains in 40 days — a total of 40 miles. “This is the ultimate challenge,” one survivalist says, echoed by another saying, “It is absolutely soul-breaking.”

It could be foreshadowing, or a promise to excel as the trailer reminds viewers that “nobody out here has seen day 22.”
Returning for Naked and Afraid XL are Adam Kavanagh, Andrew Shayde, Chris Wells, Cole Wilks, Heather Smith, Kaiela Hobart, Lynsey McCarver, Malorie Romero, Shell Armogida, Nathan Martinez, Sam Mouzer and Terra Short.
