Tableau: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

SEATTLE (AP) _ Tableau Software Inc. (DATA) on Tuesday reported a loss of $71.3 million in its third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Seattle-based company said it had a loss of 86 cents. Losses, adjusted for stock option expense and pretax expenses, came to 7 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 10 cents per share.

The provider of analytics and data-visualization software posted revenue of $239.6 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $242.8 million.

Tableau shares have risen 52 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $105.03, a climb of 47 percent in the last 12 months.
