Families of those who died in Boeing crashes press the Justice Department to prosecute the company

Relatives of passengers who died in two jetliner crashes pushed federal officials Friday to prosecute Boeing on criminal charges related to the accidents no later than this fall but said they got no commitment from the Justice Department. The Justice Department determined two weeks ago that Boeing violated terms of a settlement that let the company avoid prosecution for deceiving regulators who approved the Boeing 737 Max. Prosecutors have said they will announce by July 7 whether the company will face sanctions. Boeing agreed in 2021 to pay $2.5 billion — mostly compensation to airlines — to avoid prosecution on a fraud charge.

Striking Canadian Safran workers make new offer to avert lengthy walkout, union says

Striking Montreal-area Safran workers who make components for landing gear used in Airbus and Boeing jets have made a counter offer that could avert a longer dispute, a union official told Reuters on Friday. Workers who produce forgings for the landing gear used in aircraft like Airbus's A320 family and A350 jets, along with Boeing's 787, began a seven-day strike on Tuesday and are ready to walk off the job indefinitely if they don't reach a deal, union local president Michael Durand said.

Fitch lowers Boeing 2024 aircraft delivery, cash flow forecasts

"The delivery forecasts were affected by the Civil Aviation Administration of China's (CAAC) decision to restrict certain aircraft model deliveries to Chinese customers while it requests additional documentation regarding voice recorder and battery information," Fitch said. The forecast revision also reflects the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's decision to maintain oversight within Boeing's factories while individually certifying newly produced aircraft.
