Yahoo Finance Ann Arbor is the best-educated city in the US
A new survey by WalletHub found that Ann Arbor, Mich., is the most educated city in the U.S.
To come up with the ranking, WalletHub looked at the 150 most populated U.S. metropolitan areas, across 11 key metrics, including the number of adults aged 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher, the quality of the public school system, and gender education gap.
Ann Arbor has ranked first every single year since WalletHub started the survey in 2014.
The city is home to the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and 72.8% of the population over 25 had a bachelor’s degree or higher, according to Census data.
The nation’s capital, the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria area came in second, and Silicon Valley, comprised of San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, came in third.

“We considered educational attainment to be the most important dimension,” Jill Gonzalez, an analyst at WalletHub, told Yahoo Finance.
“The cities that ranked best have the highest percentage of adults with high school diplomas, college experience, bachelor’s degrees or professional degrees.”
The home of Harvard College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, came in seventh on the list, while New York-Newark-Jersey City came in 29th.
