Bella Hadid has opened up about her split from The Weeknd, saying she will always love him.
The Victoria’s Secret model – who dated the musician for two years before amicably splitting in November – has kept tight-lipped about the breakup despite watching her ex-beau move on with new love interest Selena Gomez.
But now, Gigi Hadid’s younger sister has opened up about her highly publicised split from the ‘Starboy’ singer – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – explaining the difficulties of a failed romance in the spotlight.
Speaking candidly about her heartbreak in Teen Vogue’s new Love issue, the 20-year-old said: “It was my first breakup… and so public. As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it’s always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily.
“It’ll be hard for a while. Love hurts, but you have to pull through. But I’ll always respect him, and I’ll always love him.
“Sometimes you want to be sad about it or handle it differently, but at the end of the day, you never want to burn a bridge that you’ve fought so hard to build.”
These comments come after Bella’s ex made his rumoured relationship with Selena ‘Instagram official’ following a three-hour long dinner date at Santa Monica hotspot Giorgio Baldi in January.
Meanwhile, Bella – who shares mutual pals with Selena – made the decision to unfollow the songstress on the photo-sharing site, around the same time she reportedly issued Abel with a warning about his new romance.
“Bella has reached out to Abel a few times and told him Selena is using him,” a source close to the star told US Weekly. “He thinks she’s just jealous.”
