‘Dr. Death’ & ‘New Amsterdam’ Talent Added To SeriesFest As Denver Event Sets Panel Lineup

SeriesFest has set its lineup and it now includes the likes of New Amsterdam star Jocko Sims and creator David Schulner, All American’s Nkechi Okoro Carroll and Dr. Death creator Patrick Macmanus.

This comes as the event, which is held in Denver between May 1 and 5, previously revealed stars such as Minnie Driver, the cast of Grey’s Anatomy and Hasan Minhaj to its lineup.

It has also added a full lineup of panels for its tenth iteration

There will be interviews with the likes of Beatrice Springborn, President, UCP and Universal International Studios, Grey’s Anatomy producer Betsy Beers and Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, the team behind Penelope.

The event will also showcase a number of international shows including This is Not Sweden, Zorro, Estonia, Haven of Grace, Lost Boys and Fairies and Split.

Special Premiere – Harry Wild Season Three: AMC Networks’ streamer Acorn TV’s series will unveil its third season with a special premiere screening followed by a Q&A session featuring Jane Seymour.

Debut Screening – Unconventional: SeriesFest alumni Kit Williamson presents an original series featuring a cast including James Bland, Aubrey Shea, Brianna Venskus and Miranda Bailey offering audiences a perspective on storytelling.

Screening & Panel – A Brief History of the Future: PBS presents an episode followed by a Q&A session with host Ari Wallach.

Special Screening & Panel – Dropping Gems: How New Amsterdam Used Masterful Storytelling to Inform its Audience: Star Jocko Sims, creator/showrunner David Schulner, medical professionals Dr. Nia Mitchell, Dr. Michelle Albert and Jandel Allen-Davis will be led in a conversation by TV personality, podcast host and producer, Van Lathan, to explore race disparities in medicine following a screening of the episode, Righteous Right Hand.

Panel – The Methods of Multi-Hyphenates: Alysia Reiner (Orange is the New Black), Christy Carlson Romano (Kim Possible), Michelle Hurd (Star Trek: Picard) share insights on pursuing passions through multiple avenues and leveraging storytelling for social change.

Panel – State of The Industry: Industry leaders Tom Verica (Head of Creative Production, Executive Producer, Director, Shondaland), Jennifer Loren (Senior Director, Cherokee Film), Melissa Myers (Producer/Manager), Diana Williams (CEO & Co-founder of Kinetic Energy Entertainment) and Jocelyn Sabo (SVP, Television Development, Lionsgate) discuss emerging trends, what’s resonating with distributors and overall predictions of what’s next.

Panel – Celebrating Women in Showrunning: Join Nkechi Okoro Carroll (All American), Ashley Michel Hoban (The Girl from Plainville) and Michelle Paradise (Star Trek: Discovery) as they discuss the challenges, triumphs, and aspirations of female showrunners shaping the television landscape.

Panel – It’s In the Details: Costume Design for Television: Terry Dresbach (Outlander), Lyn Elizabeth Paolo (Queen Charlotte), Johnetta Boone (Yellowstone), and Salvador Perez (The Mindy Project) offer a behind-the-scenes look at the craft of costume design and its impact on character development.

Panel – Mentorship and Collaboration: A Conversation with the Team Behind Dr. Death: Explore the making of Dr. Death Season Two and the significance of mentorship in the television industry with series creator/executive producer Patrick Macmanus, series showrunner/executive producer Ashley Michel Hoban, Beatrice Springborn, President, UCP and Universal International Studios, and Kelly Funke, President, Littleton Road Productions.

Panel – A Conversation with Universal Studio Group’s TV Development Executives: Gain insights into the television development process from Universal Studio Group’s executives, including Kelsey Balance, Vivian Cannon, Jim Donnelly, Monica Rodman, and Marc Velez.
