Emily Ratajkowski is a mum to one-year-old Sylvester Apollo Bear, who she shares with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard.

The 30-year-old model has spoken about her pre-parenthood and postpartum struggles in the past.

But the My Body author has now opened up about a transformative moment during her pregnancy.

Ratajkowski shared a photo of her posing alongside Valentino's Narrative campaign, in which an excerpt from her popular memoir My Body appears. The part of her book that was selected for the campaign documented her experience of a particular bike ride when she was pregnant.

Referring to this moment, Ratajkowski wrote: 'This excerpt is about a simple bike ride I took while pregnant where I had a moment of true appreciation for my body.

'It was brought on by feeling love from two of the people I cherish the most. It’s one of my favourite parts of the book and also a memory I hold dear.'

The model's book extract, which appears alongside the likes of those from Michael Cunningham, Hanif Kureishi and Serang Chung, reads: 'They slowed down to wait for me, and I felt a rush of tenderness as I registered the familiar shape of their backs hunched over their handlebars. It doesn't matter what I look like, I realised.

'Blood pulsed through my thighs and I though again of the tiny life housed in my body. My closest friend and my husband grinned at me lovingly. Without saying a word, we rode on. My eyes welled with tears. I wanted to cry out: Thank you! [sic]'

Ratajkowski's message that she shared to both her Instagram feed and story, highlighted how thankful she was that her book was part of the Italian fashion house's words-only advertising campaign.

She began: 'Its hard to describe what it feels like to be included in this @maisonvalentino Narratives campaign with so many writers I’ve admired for years (David Sedaris! Hello!) except to say that I am beyond honoured.

'While I was taking these pics two different young women stopped to tell me how much they loved my book. I had to pinch myself. A real dream come true moment ...'

The second of Valentino's campaign of this kind saw its creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli invite renowned international authors to communicate their voices to the initiative, which boasts 17 individual and striking campaign layouts.

Ratajkowski's My Body is a personal essay collection that focusses on unapologetic feminism, sexuality and power.

When previously speaking to American Vogue about her pregnancy, Ratajkowski said: 'I'm completely and undeniably helpless when it comes to almost everything surrounding my pregnancy: how my body will change, who my child will be.

'But I'm surprisingly unbothered. Instead of feeling afraid, I feel a new sense of peace. I'm already learning from this person inside my body. I'm full of wonder.'
