Naturally, any child of Serena Williams is of excellent athletic stock, but while we all might have expected her daughter to pick up a tennis racket, it seems the tot has other plans.

Alexis Olympia Ohanian, it seems, is destined to be a football pro instead.

A video clip was shared to Alexis' official Instagram page, which shows her playing football with California-based football team Angel City FC. As per the team's website, Williams is a 'leading investor' of the team.

In the clip, the Williams and tech entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian's daughter shows off her football skills on the field and later scores a goal, dressed adorably in a tee, jeans and classic Nike trainers.

The accompanying caption reads: 'Running with the Angels @weareangelcity @thinkbetterjair w the assist.'

Fans were quick to comment on Alexis' skills, with one writing: 'It was the back kick for me!!! [sic].'

Another wrote: 'Baby girl with the footwork [sic].'

Someone else commended Serena and her husband-of-five-years, writing: 'You guys are awesome. You have given her such a solid structure. Natural talent.'

This footage comes after England's national women's football team, the Lionesses, were crowned winners of the Euros 2022 after beating eight-time champions Germany in the final.

It was the first major trophy win for an England senior team in a seriously long time - 56 years after England's men celebrated their victory after beating West Germany in the 1966 World Cup final.

Still, Olympia has also been seen playing tennis, and earlier this year Williams shared a clip of her daughter showing her tennis skills, with a seriously powerful swing.

While practicing her backhand on the court, Alexis was dressed for the occasion in monochrome sportswear.

The caption read: 'Practice makes better.'

William's fellow tennis legend (and sister) Venus commented: 'It's Oracene [Price] all over again!' when referring to their mother who was a tennis coach when they were younger.

In 2019, the 40-year-old opened up about juggling her career with motherhood.

She said: 'I actually prefer playing in the day because I get to go home and see my baby.

'I’ve been missing her the last few nights when I play.'

She continued: 'In the beginning she would really be upset when I left. And now she's a little bit better. I think I'm a little more upset. But at the same time, she definitely still takes it a little hard. She's still super young.

'You know, it's hard. Sometimes my heart literally aches when I'm not around her. But, you know, it's good for me, I guess, to keep working and just to all mums out there that it's not easy. It's really kind of painful sometimes. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.'

Her husband addressed the same topic when speaking on the Imposters podcast from Morning Brew.

The entrepreneur, who co-founded Reddit, said: 'I spent most of my life, most of my adult life really focusing on just the career part, the first part, and then four years ago [I] became a dad.

'Things shifted. And that is the lens through which I look at basically every decision.'

He continued: 'Professionally, ... I want to be doing my absolute best work for however long I can so that my daughter can see me doing it, doing it in a way that I'm proud of, that's she's proud of, doing it in a way where it's the best of the best, but aligned with values.

'I really want Olympia to see me working, to see me building.

'And I also think it's part of my responsibility as a dad and a role model. I want her to see me put in work in something I really care about and being passionate about something and caring about something.'
