New Forecasts: Here's What Analysts Think The Future Holds For FS Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSBW)

FS Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSBW) shareholders will have a reason to smile today, with the analysts making substantial upgrades to this year's forecasts. The revenue forecast for this year has experienced a facelift, with the analysts now much more optimistic on its sales pipeline.

After this upgrade, FS Bancorp's three analysts are now forecasting revenues of US$149m in 2023. This would be a huge 28% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to step up 18% to US$4.58. Prior to this update, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$131m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$4.32 in 2023. The forecasts seem more optimistic now, with a nice gain to revenue and a small lift in earnings per share estimates.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. It's clear from the latest estimates that FS Bancorp's rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 28% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2023 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 14% p.a. over the past five years. Compare this with other companies in the same industry, which are forecast to grow their revenue 7.2% annually. It seems obvious that, while the growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, the analysts also expect FS Bancorp to grow faster than the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away from this upgrade is that analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates for this year, expecting improving business conditions. Fortunately, analysts also upgraded their revenue estimates, and our data indicates sales are expected to perform better than the wider market. Given that analysts appear to be expecting substantial improvement in the sales pipeline, now could be the right time to take another look at FS Bancorp.
