Inspired Entertainment's (NASDAQ:INSE) investors will be pleased with their splendid 205% return over the last year

When you buy shares in a company, there is always a risk that the price drops to zero. But when you pick a company that is really flourishing, you can make more than 100%. For example, the Inspired Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:INSE) share price has soared 205% in the last 1 year. Most would be very happy with that, especially in just one year! It's also good to see the share price up 31% over the last quarter. It is also impressive that the stock is up 121% over three years, adding to the sense that it is a real winner.

Let's take a look at the underlying fundamentals over the longer term, and see if they've been consistent with shareholders returns.

Check out our latest analysis for Inspired Entertainment

Given that Inspired Entertainment didn't make a profit in the last twelve months, we'll focus on revenue growth to form a quick view of its business development. When a company doesn't make profits, we'd generally expect to see good revenue growth. As you can imagine, fast revenue growth, when maintained, often leads to fast profit growth.

Inspired Entertainment grew its revenue by 22% last year. We respect that sort of growth, no doubt. While that revenue growth is pretty good the share price performance outshone it, with a lift of 205% as mentioned above. If the profitability is on the horizon then now could be a very exciting time to be a shareholder. Of course, we are always cautious about succumbing to 'fear of missing out' when a stock has shot up strongly.

A Different Perspective

We're pleased to report that Inspired Entertainment rewarded shareholders with a total shareholder return of 205% over the last year. That gain actually surpasses the 30% TSR it generated (per year) over three years. These improved returns may hint at some real business momentum, implying that now could be a great time to delve deeper. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Like risks, for instance. Every company has them, and we've spotted 2 warning signs for Inspired Entertainment (of which 1 can't be ignored!) you should know about.
