Jack Antonoff still surprises himself when it comes to the work he does with pals Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 on Thursday, the Bleachers musician, 39, opened up about the "magic" of working with the pair of pop superstars.
"Every time we do something new, I joke, 'I guess we still got it,' because there's no reason for it to keep coming the way it does," Antonoff told the host, 50. "There's a lot of magic there. I feel that way with Taylor, I feel that way with Lana, I feel that with my band."
He continued: "There's people I've had these long relationships with, where I'm just like, the opposite of expecting it. It's almost like, the more we do, the less I expect it. Because I often think to myself, well, how much longer could we really keep having this spark? And I'm just grateful that it's there, and I don't know where it comes from or where it goes, but the one thing that I've noticed is that anyone who claims to know where it comes from and where it goes burns out pretty quick."

The "Rollercoaster" artist also explained that music is all "feeling" and his work with the "Maroon" singer, 34, and the "Cinnamon Girl" performer, 38, reflects that.
"Everyone I'm making records with were pretty insular, and people of all different sizes, not just people of the privilege to be so, but I really just tend to work with people who just have a gut feeling about something and just want to find it. That's all making an album is," Antonoff told Lowe.
The songwriter/producer has worked with Swift since 2014’s acclaimed 1989 and Del Rey since her 2019 magnum opus Norman F---ing Rockwell!.
Antonoff’s collaborative relationship with both stars led to him being among the most-nominated artists at the 2024 Grammy Awards with six total nominations.

Jack Antonoff in conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1Both Swift and Del Rey were nominated for record of the year at the 2024 Grammys, but the "Maroon" singer ultimately took home the trophy for her album Midnights, making her the first artist in Grammys history to win the category four times (her past albums Fearless, 1989 and Folklore have also earned the achievement). But, she didn’t forget to shine light on Del Rey, who accompanied her on the Midnights song "Snow on the Beach."
In her acceptance speech, Swift also gave Del Rey a warm-hearted shoutout.
"But I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration they have if it weren't for the work that [Lana has] done. I think she's a legacy artist, a legend in her prime right now. I'm so lucky to know you and to be your friend."
