Macaulay Culkin Supports Calls to Edit Donald Trump Out of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Macaulay Culkin fully supports the removal of Donald Trump's cameo from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Culkin, 40, who starred as Kevin McAllister in the popular 1992 Christmas movie, gave his thoughts on having Trump, 74, edited out of the comedy on Tuesday – a day prior to the president's second impeachment by the House of Representatives.

One fan of the movie tweeted, "Petition to digitally replace trump in 'home alone 2' with 40-year-old macaulay culkin."

"Sold," Culkin responded.

Another fan did an amateur job of editing out Trump in the scene with Culkin and shared it on Twitter. "due to popular request I have removed trump from home alone," the fan wrote alongside the video.

Culkin and Trump had a brief interaction in the movie as they were in the New York Plaza Hotel, which The Apprentice star owned from 1988 to 1995. In the scene, the young child actor approached Trump and asked for directions to the lobby.

In November, the Home Alone 2 director Chris Columbus claimed Trump bullied "his way into the movie," because they were shooting on his hotel property.

"We paid the fee, but he also said, 'The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie,'" Columbus, 62, told Insider. "So we agreed to put him in the movie, and when we screened it for the first time the oddest thing happened: People cheered when Trump showed up on screen."

"So I said to my editor, 'Leave him in the movie. It's a moment for the audience,'" the director recalled.

The White House previously did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on the director's comments.
