More is better when it comes to the Property Brothers: Jonathan and Drew Scott have an older brother, J.D. Scott, whom they consider a best friend.

Born James Daniel, the eldest Scott brother was raised in Vancouver alongside his brothers by dad Jim, who moved to Canada as a teen from Scotland, and mom Joanne, who worked as a paralegal while they were growing up, according to Parade.

Their dad originally relocated to pursue his acting dreams and worked as an entertainer before starting a family, giving the three brothers their artistic roots.

“We’re a performing family, our parents were the same. That’s why we have so much fun working together,” Drew told Entertainment Tonight in 2017 of working with Jonathan and J.D. “The three of us are thick as thieves.”

Though they are close in age — J.D. is only two years older than the twins — they grew up supportive of one another and are still tight-knit.

"We've always gotten along," he told PEOPLE of his brothers. "We're great friends."

Here’s everything to know about Jonathan and Drew Scott’s brother — J.D. Scott — and their sibling relationship.

He was a celebrity impersonator

Back in 2017, J.D. went viral when a throwback picture of the three brothers made the rounds. The snap featured him alongside Jonathan and Drew in professional attire. Still, J.D. stood out thanks to his jet-black hair with bangs hanging over his face.

In the process, fans of the Property Brothers realized that they had another sibling who used to work as an Adam Lambert and David Bowie impersonator in Las Vegas. His LinkedIn profile also revealed that he was a blackjack dealer during this time, from 2010 to 2012.

After the viral throwback photo, J.D. showed off his old work costume in a different picture with his dad.

“If you can believe it, these were my work clothes at my first job in Las Vegas,” he captioned the shot. “I was a celebrity impersonator. Now I just impersonate myself. Btw Dad, I can get you a pair of the leopard print pants too.”

Before they were all on TV, Jonathan, Drew and J.D. co-founded the production company Dividian Production Group in 2002, which became Scott Brothers Global.

Now, the oldest Scott regularly appears on his siblings’ HGTV shows, including Property Brothers: At Home and Brother vs. Brother. J.D.’s been helping his younger brothers on job sites for years, often called a “secret weapon” on the twins’ TV shows.

He’s also hosted behind-the-scenes content for HGTV shows like Brother vs. Brother and Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines.

“I attempt to entertain people. I harass my brothers. I interview and challenge other hosts. I have a good time,” J.D. wrote on his LinkedIn.

He got married in an epic Halloween wedding

J.D. married makeup artist Annalee Belle on Halloween 2019 in a ceremony with a 1940s and ’50s vintage movie theatre theme in Las Vegas, where they live.

The wedding festivities also included a ’50s candy shoppe, an absinthe fountain lounge and synchronized swimmers.

To make it even more special, guests arrived in Halloween costumes, while the groomsmen — including Jonathan and Drew — dressed up as Mortal Kombat characters.

After the ceremony, the twins changed into couples costumes: Jonathan and now-fianceé Zooey Deschanel transformed into Batman and Catwoman and Drew and wife Linda Phan dressed as Woody and Jessie from Toy Story.

A few months before his wedding, J.D. appeared in a special episode of Property Brothers: Forever Home — his own!

In the episode, Jonathan and Drew overhauled J.D.’s longtime bachelor pad, which needed serious renovation after his now-wife Annalee moved in a few years prior.

The twins pulled it off, turning the house into the perfect home for two and creating memorable moments along the way.

"Growing up, J.D. was an amazing big brother who showed us the ropes, so it was special for us to do this reno for him," the brothers told HGTV Magazine at the time.

He had an undiagnosed illness for over a year

Despite his career in front of cameras, J.D. experienced health issues behind the scenes, beginning in 2018. The unknown illness caused a series of bizarre symptoms that stumped doctors and culminated in J.D. thinking he was having a heart attack.

"It started out as chest problems and had all the warning signs,” he told PEOPLE in July 2019.

After opening up about his health, J.D. shared an update a few months later.

"I have acute mercury poisoning. My levels are so high the health department got involved," he wrote on Instagram in September 2019. "We don’t know at this point how it happened but I am being treated for it."

Though he’s made progress, the illness was so severe that he would often faint or have to lie down for long stretches of time.

J.D. also admitted to PEOPLE that he worried about making it through, even organizing "detailed instructions" in case of his death.

“I was at the point where any travel would set off the symptoms, or even just being in temperatures over 70 degrees," he explained. "I would pass out pretty much wherever I was ... There were many moments that felt like the end of the line."

Through it all, he had Annalee by his side.

He regularly expresses his love for Jonathan and Drew

From how they talk about one another, it seems the Scott brothers treasure their bond, and an old Instagram post from J.D. might explain why.

“I’m grateful that my parents raised us to tell each other that we love one another on a regular basis,” he captioned a family picture on Instagram. “If someone really, truly matters to you, then make sure you tell them that you love them because you might not always have that opportunity."

J.D. concluded, "I am a grown man who loves hard and regrets it not at all.”
