The Taliban Has Launched A Massive Coordinated Attack In Afghanistan

Afghan intelligence officials: We are dealing with attacks in several provinces & 3 in Kabul.

There are reported attacks on the NATO headquarters, a Kabul hotel, Afghan parliament, German and Russian embassies, a house used by British diplomats, Jalalabad airport, an army base in Jalalabad, a Turkish base, Kabul MIlitary Academy and more.

Kabul has seen at least 14 large explosions. Attackers are using suicide bombs, rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars.

The Green Zone is a safe enclave in the war torn country that houses the NATO compound and several international embassies.

Al Jazeera is running a live blog and posting tweets from the area now.

A spokesman for the Afghan interior ministry confirmed two attacks in Kabul, one Gardez city of Paktya province, and one in Jalalabad city of Nangrahar province and another attack in Logar province. Sediq Sediqqi, speaking to ToloNews, said there were no reports of casualties yet. He confirmed that some of the assailants are holed up in buildings in Kabul, but are surrounded by police.

Eyewitnesses say the attack started near Zanbaq Square in the heart of Kabul where the presedential palace, foreign ministry, and several foreign embassies are located.
