MADRID (AP) _ Telefonica SA (TEF) on Thursday reported net income of $1.08 billion in its second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Madrid-based company said it had net income of 19 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 24 cents per share.

The telecommunications company posted revenue of $14.49 billion in the period.

Telefonica shares have declined 10 percent since the beginning of the year.
