The world's most sought after employees

If you work for one of these companies, it means you are highly valued and it could do wonders for your career.

Potential employers place a lot of value on well-respected, successful and often high-profile companies, and as an employee you could stand to benefit.

LinkedIn has released its annual list of the most sought-after employees in the world in terms of the company they work for.

Using billions of interactions from LinkedIn members, the data was used to determine awareness of a particular company, for example, how many people viewed your employees’ profiles in the last year.

LinkedIn also analysed people’s engagement with a company, determined by the number of connections to a company’s career or company page.

The higher the talent brand awareness, as well as engagement among LinkedIn members with company pages, the higher the ranking for sought-after employees.

According to LinkedIn, the city with the most in-demand employees is the San Francisco and the surrounding area, followed by New York City.

There is a surprisingly big discrepancy in the talent brand awareness of two major sport clothing brands.

Adidas comes in at spot 64 compared to a top 20 place for Nike at number 16.

Three fashion brands make the top 100. Chanel receives a a ranking at 42 while affordable clothing company H&M eclipses luxury label Gucci at spot 56 compared to 98.

Of the smallest companies on LinkedIn, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, AirBnB and Netflix offer up the most sought-after workers.

Other than just one company, all employees in the top five come from internet or technology-based companies.
