Trump sues banks
President Donald Trump, his family, and his businesses have filed a suit to block Congressional Committees from accessing his financial records.
The suit, filed against the president’s longtime lender Deutsche Bank (DB), as well as Capital One (COF), seeks to prevent the banks from complying with subpoenas from Congress. It argues that the subpoenas’ goal is to “harass” the president and his family.
“This case involves congressional subpoenas that have no legitimate or lawful purpose,” the suit states. “The subpoenas were issued to harass President Donald J. Trump, to rummage through every aspect of his personal finances, his businesses and the private information of the president and his family, and to ferret about for any material that might be used to cause him political damage. No grounds exist to establish any purpose other than a political one.”
The suit has been categorized as an attempt to prevent House Democrats to investigate Trump and his presidency.
Foxconn’s Wisconsin plant
The chairman of Foxconn (TPE: 2354) is reportedly traveling to the United States for a meeting at the White House. This meeting is said to be related to the major Apple supplier’s plan to invest in a Wisconsin plant, according to reports.
Foxconn released word that it remains committed to its $10 billion investment to create a plant and facilities in Wisconsin, despite the U.S. state governor wanting to renegotiate the deal. The company pledged to ultimately create 13,000 jobs.
