What the commodity rally means for inflation

The commodity sector has been rallying, reaching all-time highs, but what does this mean for the Federal Reserve's fight against inflation? HSBC Chief Multi-Asset Strategist Max Kettner joins Catalysts to discuss his outlook. Kettner says the commodity rally has not "reignited a lot of those inflationary concerns." He notes that rallies such as the one occurring in Gold (GC=F) are coming from central bank buying. He also points out that commodities benefitted from less diversification happening in areas such as bonds coming off the Fed's rate hike cycle, pushing assets like Gold higher as well. On the natural gas front, Kettner says he is not concerned, though he cautions if oil (CL=F, BZ=F) and natural gas (NG=F) prices were to rise simultaneously, it could pose a problem for markets. However, he says current energy prices in the US are still "relatively tame," adding that this indicates "we're nowhere near hitting that 2% inflation target anytime soon." JPMorgan investor day, benefits of Biden tariffs on solar: Market Domination

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) seeks to close back above its all-time high of 40,000 in Monday's trading session, while the Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) flirts with its own record close. Yardeni Research President Ed Yardeni sits down with Yahoo Finance's Julie Hyman and Jared Blikre on Market Domination to discuss the economic factors that could push markets even higher in the coming years. First Solar (FSLR) CEO Mark Widmar discusses the long-term positive impacts that President Biden's tariffs on Chinese imports will have on American industry, including for the energy sector and green energy initiatives. Yahoo Finance Reporters David Hollerith and Dan Howley also join Market Domination to break down their respective coverage of JPMorgan Chase (JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon's remarks at the bank's investor day and Microsoft's (MSFT) unveiling of its CoPilot+ PCs. The 2 areas to invest in to take full advantage of inflation

Sarge986 LLC President Stephen “Sarge” Guilfoyle foresees two dominant macro trends that play a great role in influencing the market (^DJI, ^IXIC, ^GSPC) and whether stocks can hold onto the current rally. Guilfoyle joins Julie Hyman on Asking for a Trend to elaborate on the areas he is investing, taking advantage of the high inflationary environment: the utilities sector (XLU) and precious metal commodities such as gold (GC=F), silver (SI=F), and copper (HG=F). "As AI goes, as bitcoin (BTC-USD) goes on, as electric vehicles go on, the demand for electricity isn't going to be what it's been. Demand for electricity nationwide has gone up, maybe like less than 0.5% a year for a number of years," Guilfoyle explains. "From here on out. I think they're expecting 2 to 3% growth per year. so this is going to be an ongoing thing. You're not going to pay a low price for electricity, I don't think, probably for a long time."
