Brazilians enjoy rare snowfall as cold snap hits

STORY: Several cities in the Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Porto Alegre, and Sao Jose dos Ausentes states registered the phenomenon according to local media.

Brazilians and tourists couldn’t resist the idea of gathering in the streets to enjoy the natural event.

“One can't resist coming, seeing the snow this way is so cool,” said Santa Catarina resident, Eduarda Demeneck excited by the views.

With the arrival of the subtropical storm, Rio Grande do Sul also confirmed the first death due to the weather.

Snowfalls and freezing temperatures are expected to keep dropping, with possible snowfalls in northern cities and Santa Catarina state.
