STORY: Chess champion Magnus Carlsen has done it again, racking up his third tour win with a 2.5-0.5 rout of Ian Nepomniachtchi on the second day of the Legends of Chess final.

The Norwegian champion takes home $45,000 dollars in prize money as he marches into the tour final as the clear favourite.

Carlsen has now won three of the four "super tournaments" of his Magnus Carlsen Chess Tour which lead of to the tour final which pits Hikaru Nakamura, as the only other player to win a tournament, and top two other players by points in a Grand Final.

The other two qualifiers for the August 9 - 20 Grand Final are China's Ding Liren and Russia's Daniil Dubov.
