October core PCE prices rise 5% year-over-year

Yahoo Finance Live's Seana Smith examines the latest PCE data published for the month of October.

SEANA SMITH: Prices measured by the PCE index. That is the Fed's preferred inflation reading, showing that signs of slowing last month. Prices rose by 6% on an annual basis through October. That's down from its previous jump of 6.3% in September. Core PCE, which strips out food and energy, that rose 2/10 of a percent on a monthly basis in October, slightly below Wall Street expectations. This is the latest sign that inflation pressures could potentially be moderating.
