Time running out for Brexit deal - UK minister

Britain and the EU are running out of time to clinch a Brexit trade deal.

But if good progress is made this week, talks could be extended, according to UK Environment Secretary George Eustice.

With just over four weeks left until the UK quits the EU on December 31, both sides are demanding concessions on fishing, state aid and resolving future disputes.

Almost $1 trillion-worth of trade is at stake.

Fishing rights in particular, though accounting for less than 0.1% of the UK economy, have become a totemic issue.

Britain is demanding full control of its waters -- something Brexit supporters see as a symbol of regained sovereignty.

Since formally leaving the bloc at the end of January, Britain has been in a transition period, with rules on trade, travel and business unchanged.

Talks between EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier and Britain's David Frost continued through Sunday.

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said this would be a very significant week for Brexit.
